The team was formed in 2003 and the club got off the ground in the Kingsley League, on a pitch provided and tended by a local farming family. A commitee was formed and funds raised for equipment and kits etc. Manager Jamie Ellacott had a squad of players from the local area and nearby town, Launceston. The first season saw a spirited mid table finish and that became the platform to go one step further in the next season when North Petherwin made it to their first Pickard Cup final, played at Holsworthy FC unfortunately finishing as runners up. The third season (05-06) saw new manager Roger Dawe take the reins and an incredible run of 19 straight league wins and the league championsnip to boot. Added to this was another Pickard Cup final that again resulted in runners up medals. In the 06-07 season, new teams joined the league from Bideford, Landkey, and across town rivals South Petherwin which made for a hotly contested season that after many close encounters North Petherwin succesfully defended the league title. This was Rogers final season with the team and the club will remember all the success he had as boss. In 2007-08 Nigel Cowling was named as the new manager and the season welcomed the new changing facility that has been built locally by club man of the year Wally with the proceeds beind raised through players and commitee members organising fund raisers. The league title was surrendered only by goal difference to Bideford Reserves but the season ended on a high with North Petherwin lifting the Hutchings Cup, beating Bridgerule in the final at Bude. The season 08-09 was another exciting year for the North Cornwall club seeing its first ever taste of pyramid league football after being accepted into Cornwalls Duchy League. The club travelled to new venues and welcomed new teams to the village especially on their decent cup runs and although Petherwin led Division 5 for most of the season, they lost a vital game at Perranporth and had to settle for Runners-up spot but gained automatic promotion to Division 4 which had mixed results and a mid table finish even top scoring the division with 70 league goals under the management of Chris Riordan. The 2010-11 season was another success under manager Nick Jeffery with Petherwin winning Division 4 with 3matches to spare and achieving 100% wins at home. Petherwin also introduced a reserves team under Barry Rutherford and battled a great season in the Devon Kingsley league finishing close to the top in third behind Lifton and Ashwater. A record 263 goals were scored and Sam Stockdale had the lions share of these totalling 42. 2011-12 saw another undefeated home season with the 1st team winning another title taking the Division 3 top spot above Padstow Utd, they also had their best ever run in the Junior Cup reaching round 4. The reserves also undefeated at home were again pipped to the Kingsley League, this time by Ashwater but did win the Pickard Cup after a 5-0 win vs Stratton Utd at Holsworthy FC helped by a new record of 59 goals in a season by Sam Stockdale tallying over 100 in just 2 seasons. 2012-13 saw the reserves join the 1st team in Duchy football plying their trades in Division 2 and 5 respectively, both teams finishing in 3rd positions and luckily gaining promotion to the next tiers, and promotion for both sides continued in 2013-14 whilst both sides ended good seasons in 4th, the league made changes to even out divisions and Petherwin were in the right spots. The reserves made it to the Reserves Cup final at Pennygillam but eventually lost out to Godolphin Res and the same ground saw North Petherwin reach the semi final of the Launceston District Cup losing out to the cup winners Pensilva. The club has a good mixture of experienced players and youth with a great morale and has many followers and well wishers and this can be seen at the end of season functions when the prizes are given and the thanks are extended to all that make the club tick. It is everyones wish to see the club go from strength to strength and eventually start to offer a club for the youngsters of the village to join and carry on the success in Duchy Premier and division 3.
